Sir I am most earnestlie to intreate you for yor lawfull
favor for an old man One Thomas Grindon now a prisoner
in yor gaole vppon an arest of respondend for the escape
of c{er}taine prisoners beinge bound wth others to dyvers
sheriff{es}, none of the sureties are called to answere but he
onlie, soe that if he shold put in sureties to answere, the whole
wold light vppon him. I doubt not of yor care of the old
man, as also if it wold be pleasing to you to take sureties of
him for his true imprisoment my selfe will be one, I wold
be loth to moue you to yor losse but shall rest much in yor
debt for yor favour toward{es} my good frend, and thus wth
my loue to you doe humblie take my leaue Stafford
